type='text'>Copyright

If I was searching for an image to post on a webpage the majority of the time I would have to cite it. The way I would cite it is: I would usually place an endnote at the bottom of the webpage with all the other sources. There are other ways I can do this too though; I can also place the citiation under the picture itself. There are also times that I do not have to cite it, if it is on a stock exchange website, then I would not have to site it because the pictures are already in the public domain. That is another time that citiation is not needed is when the copyright on something has expired and is in the public domain.

Web 2.0

    After reading the Time magazine article about how we are the people of the year in 2006 it actually makes me even more nervous for the future of Web 2.0. One of the biggest worries in American culture today is the problem of obesity. With the ever expanding World Wide Web, while it's making it easier for people to get information out; it is also making laziness, identity theft, and identity fraud easier. When things such as Facebook and MySpace are used for networking and keeping in touch with people they are very useful and helpful to society. However, when they are used to meet people and as dating services they become exponentially more dangerous, because there is actually no way to tell who you are talking to on the other side. As for what the future holds in store for the World Wide Web, there is no telling where it could go, 20 years from now we could never have to leave our living rooms to do anything. But in my opinion that would be one of the worst things that could happen to America.
    The article I read was Web 2.0 Does Work, which more or less just reinforced what the Time magazine article was talking about. It mentioned how services such as Second Life and MySpace have allowed people to start networking and meeting new people, and maybe even starting the life that they have always wanted.

Spencer Lane

Microsoft Word

My previous expierence with Microsoft Word, primarily deals with writing papers. I was born in Portland, Oregon, but I moved to Tucson, Arizona when I was two or three. I have played basketball since I was five, and have every intention to play for Trinity. At the present time I am undecided on my major, but I am leaning towards a Political Science major with a minor in either Economics or the Classics. As for computer skills, I have a 15 inch MacBook Pro with a 2.33 ghz hard drive. The operating system I am using is Mac OS X 10.4.10 (Tiger). The only special concern I have is that I have used a Mac all my life (including while in school) and apparently this is a PC based course.

Spencer Lane
